Description
Gorgonopsids are awesome and for some reason underrated...
They lived during the Permian and belong to the group of Synapsids, the so called mammal-reptiles.
This is Inostrancevia, one of the biggest Gorgonopsids. This animal was 3 metres long and had a skull of 60 cm long, the canines are up to 15 cm long. They lived about 250 million years ago, before the first dinosaurs. What's special about the dentition besides the enlarged teeth is the fact that Gorgonopsids only had teeth in the front of their mouth. They couldn't chew or something like that. Because of this we believe that they just ripped of a piece of flesh and then just swallowed it whole.

The 'mammal-like reptiles' are always depicted with no outer ears just as any reptile today. What if there was a possibility that at least certain species like this one had ears? They would be advantageous in detecting prey or danger.
