And this time there wasn't that much of a hiatus.
Also something more obscure instead of the classic or well-studied species I chose in all my previous vids.

The point of these vids when I started making them a few years ago was to learn people how to draw accurate dinosaurs and it made sense to stick to the classics everyone is familiar with. But I guess something not so well-known can be thrown in regurarly. I also wanted to learn people how to do this without the need for expensive tools. That's why I stick to basic, cheap pencils and one fineliner.
I might need to learn how to handle Abobe Premiere or AfterEffects though because it all still looks quite unprofessional.

Been a long time since I made one of these, but I managed to do this one rather quick yesterday during the evening.
In hindsight the neck might be a bit too long... Allosaurus is a well-known genus, but I'm still surprised how long its neck really was in comparison to how I draw it intuitively without refs in doodles and such. I'm sure a vid like this comes in handy for the average kid that wants to learn how to draw it.

It's funny because I actually thought I never finished this and had deleted the video material before I made an .mp4. Turned out I was wrong and that this thing had been waiting to be posted after I accidentally saved it in the wrong folder only to be found months later.

It was a while since I made one of these.
Plausible because I added some speculative features, but also because that head is just hard to draw and I probably have some thingies not fully right with all those horns.

You may or may not know about a huge block that holds several Utahraptor ostrommaysorum individuals of several ages together with two Hippodraco scutodens from Utah. Obviously this is an awesome find and since the previous material of the largest Dromaeosaurid is quite scarce, this find is really usefull to find out more about the animal's look. (hint hint: it's not your average raptor)

Problem is that the project needs awareness and money. It's a big amount of work to do. There's page to fund the project here: www.gofundme.com/utahraptor?ss…

In comes the "Love In The Time Of Chasmosaurs" blog who has just launched a little competition everyone can participate in to raise some awareness. Draw in a funny way how you think these dinosaurs ended up in this block. Winners get a price. (extra points for accuracy)
More info about the contest here: chasmosaurs.blogspot.be/2017/0…

Also you might want to fill in the 2017 Survey of Paleoartists. Wether you're a hobbyist or a pro, just fill it in. It's to spread some info about this branch of illustration and to try to get rid of some tabboos surrounding it. It only takes a few minutes: docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAI…
