Songs from the mist

A thick fog is hanging over the mammoth steppe while loud bellows are echoing through the white curtains.
It's autumn and the mating season for the megaloceros has started. Out of the fog a large bull appears: with a confident tread and enormous antlers that are 4 meters wide it is an intimidating sight. To magnify his appearance the bull has been trashing his head through bushes and over the ground making twigs, grass and leaves stick between his antlers. 
The ladies will love it.

A while ago I read this article about a new find that showed the giant deer Megalocerus giganteus survived untill way after the end of the ice age. Instead of the 10 300 years ago, new fossils have pointed out it still survived in Siberia untill 7650 years ago: siberiantimes.com/science/case…
A reason to draw this animal again.

Megaloceros giganteus aka Irish elk wasn't an elk and didn't only live in Ireland either: it was spread all across Eurasia. 
Standing 2.1 meter tall at the shoulder and having antlers that are about as long as an adult human this was one of the biggest deer that ever lived.
