Nea - Blue mountain pillow

One of the more recent plant species introduced on Nea was the yareta (Azorella compacta) from the Puna grasslands of South America.
They aren't wide spread yet and since they aren't genetically modified in the lab, scientists planted them in the mountains of the Northern forests and grasslands, close to one of the seas, to be sure they'd survive. Because of this it's only in this region you're able to find them, but they are doing well and descending the mountain slopes: every year new sprouts can be found lower and lower. 
On Earth, yareta used to be burned as fuel, threatening their populations. Here on Nea, the plant doesn't have to be affraid of such a fate and can keep growing to increase the planet's biodiverity. 
Just like their Terran ancestors, blue mountain pillow grows on great heights were temperatures are quite low, so just like on Earth the tiny plants grow in dense packets to trap heat and the protect themselves against hard winds, creating the typical green blobs. Their flowers are blue, in contrary to the purple ones on Earth, and when in complete bloom cover the entire blobs which explains the plant's  name.
