Hateg Island

Description

So I gave a friend of me some drawings I made in the course of a few months but couldn't upload them because my scanner ruined them.
She scanned them and as you can see quality looks good. Okay, if you zoom in it gets blurry, but hey, it's something :)

This one is from Septembre 2014.

For the people who don't know that much about dinosaurs and possibly already started freaking out: no, that pterosaur isn't bigger than the average giant sauropod. This is Hatzegopteryx thambema, an azhdarchid pterosaur from Late Cretaceous Romania.
Back in the day, Romania was an island and as you may or not may know animals that get stuck on an island are evolution's test rats: on islands you can find the most spectacular and bizarre creatures with the weirdest features.
This particular island that once will become Romania was named Hateg island. Overhere, evolution decided to get drunk and create crazy stuff too.

A giraffe sized Hatzegopteryx walks on the edge of a river bed searching for prey like young sauropods or other "small" animals. The giant passes some Paludititan nalatzensis, a titanosaurid sauropod. Titanosaurids were giant animals but ironically, Paludititan is a nice example of island dwarfism. The male on the right has more brighter colours than the female. As the Hatzegopteryx continues his search for food, something across the river catches his attention. On a dead tree trunk another special animal appears: Balaur bondoc, the double clawed paravian. With its two meters he's just too big to be a prey for the pterosaur but he better keeps some distance.

Hatzegopteryx was 5.5 metres tall and its skull alone was about three meters long. The wingspan is estimated at an enormous 11 metres while the weight however wasn't more than 300 kg. Hatzegopteryx is a close relative of the same sized Quetzalcoatlus northropi with the same body plan. The difference is that our Romanian pterosaur's neck was more robust making it possible to swallow larger objects and thus making him a giant danger for the smaller animals on Hateg Island. With the lack of giant land predators, Hatzegopteryx was the apex predator of his environment.

You are very good with a colored pencil! But I think you British'd a little too hard with your spelling of "September".
