A whale that came to land?

Description

Zygorhiza kochii is a Basilosaurid from the Late Eocene, 38 - 34 million years ago.
It was six meters long and its fins were quite primitive: in its front limbs it still had an elbow that could be flexed. This lead to the idea that Zygorhiza could crawl on land to give birth or mate, but it's far more likely that the primitive elbows were simply not evolved away yet. After all this animal is far more adapted for a completely aquatic lifestyle than to still crawl on land.
Fun fact is that this whale species is the state fossil of Mississippi and the mount hanging in the Mississippi Museum of Natural Science, located in Jackson, has the nickname Ziggy.

Note: Drew its blowhole a bit too far on top of the head here.
