Description

That's how long it took to find out how it looked...
Deinocheirus mirificus, the giant Mongolian Ornithomimid.

We all know how we first found the arms in 1965 and up untill last year we didn't know to who they belonged.

I had this old dinosaur book as a child, where he was depicted as a giant carnivore. This was the first theory about his identity. As a child I thought it was very scary: he had this dull grey-green colours, a weird head and long arms who looked human-like. But those are childhood memories ofcourse...
Too bad I couldn't find that book, so I had to draw him from memory.

Last year the whole paleo-art community on DeviantArt fangirled about a new discovery: the entire body of Deinocheirus. It belonged to a giant Ornithomimid and what was really interesting was this hump. Yup, like Spinosaurus, it had a hump... Only thing still missing was the head, but soon everybody started to draw a giant ornithomimid with a hump, you've all seen it probably.

Yesterday however, I read the news over here: the head was found... and guess what? Deinocheirus' head was not what we expected: it's like a giant spoonbill. The fuck were you thinking Deinocheirus? "Oh, humps and giant arms are already in use, lets evolve my head into that of a spoonbill! Yeah, some kind of future society will definitely not see that coming..."

Go home Deinocheirus, you're drunk.

I'll probably redraw this. Quality is crap. I couldn't wait and just practise first. Too excited.

What was the size for Deinocheirus before more of its remains have been uncovered. I remember seeing a video about it (or briefly showing it, it's been a while, so I don't remember it too well), showing the estimated size of the older depiction, having it be bigger than T.rex, at 20 feet in height, and 50 feet in length (pretty comparable to the likes of JW's Indominus).
